4,000 pregnant women, 51800 others enrolled for free healthcare delivery services in Ebonyi
No fewer than four thousand pregnant women slated from the thirteen local government areas of Ebonyi State have been reportedly enrolled into free healthcare delivery services in the state.
The executive secretary, Ebonyi State health insurance agency, EBSHIA, Divine Igwe made this known while briefing journalists in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the beneficiaries was enrolled into the Ebonyi State insurance scheme, who offsets their bills each time they are treated in the hospitals.
He said that the agency, equally enrolled over fifty one thousand, eight hundred other citizens including civil servants into the free healthcare delivery services in the state.
The executive secretary, Igwe revealed that the enrollment was done through the efforts of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru and wife, with the aim of reducing the rate of sufferings and death of women during childbirth in the state.
According to Igwe: “The governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has demonstrated uncommon commitment in ensuring that the health sector is completely revamped. That he has done with every sense of sincerity, commitment, seriousness, solemnity and integrity.
“After the proclamation of the Governor for the enrollment of the Formal Sector, the Agency matched the statement with action. I’m happy to announce to you that presently, the Agency has completed the enrollment of all civil and public servants in the State. That has tremendously aided the expansion of enrollment coverage to more residents in the state.
“The agency has worked tirelessly to improve service delivery to its beneficiaries. We have partnered with more healthcare providers to ensure that our members have access to a wide range of healthcare services, including, ANCs, delivery, etc.
“The Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency has embraced digital technology to streamline its operations and improve efficiency. We have implemented a digital platform for enrollment, claims processing, and member communication, making it easier for our beneficiaries to access and utilize their health insurance benefits.
“In partnership with the pet project of the wife of the BERWO, The Agency has enrolled about four thousand pregnant women across the 13 LGAs of the State. Most of the have accessed Healthcare, some have delivered even through operation without any form of payment.
“The Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency remains committed to ensuring that all residents have access to affordable and quality healthcare services. We will continue to work towards expanding coverage, improving service delivery, and enhancing the health outcomes of our beneficiaries” he stated.
