The Imo State executive committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, has ahead of the forthcoming zonal Congress holding in Enugu, applauded governor Hope Uzodimma, for stabilizing party in the state and in the entire South East region.
They described the forthright, visionary and inspiring leadership of the governor Hope Uzodimma in the region as very impactful.
The Nations News reports that the zonal Congress is scheduled to hold in Enugu, the Coal City State, on Wednesday, the 25th of March, 2026.
They inferred that there is an exponential improvement in the Party’s fortunes over the last few years, under his efficient guidance.
Speaking during a meeting of the State Executive Committee of the Party, which was held at the Party’s State Secretariat in Okigwe Road, Owerri, the State Chairman of the Party, Austin Onyedebelu, reminisced on the shaky and uncertain days of the APC in the Southeast before the governor assumed the leadership of the Party and turned its fortunes around for good.

In a statement signed by the state publicity secretary APC Imo state Onwuasoanya Jones said that the Party recalls, that there was a time when being a member of the APC in the Southeast was not one of the most popular decisions that anyone could take.
“Our Party had unfair and unfavourable fortunes during elections in the zone and we were effectively relegated to a minority zone as a result of the reluctance of many of our brothers and sisters in the Southeast to join the Party or even vote for us at elections.
We managed a few seats in the National Assembly and at a time, we had only one governor under our Party’s banner. But fast forward to a few years later, precisely, in 2020, when our leader, the governor, recovered his stolen mandate and took over the saddle of leadership as governor.
He inspired a massive influx of Progressives into the APC in the Southeast by providing an unprecedented inspirational leadership that revived faith in our Party from across the five States of the Southeast and turned the Party to not just the most popular Party in the Southeast, but also to the darling Party of Ndigbo across Nigeria.
From a Party that barely managed to hold on to one State in the Southeast before 2020, the Party now boasts of three States of the Southeast, fully aligned to the APC, with their governors, National and State Assembly members, as well as key leaders, including former Senate Presidents, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, former governors.
Also, former Ministers and other critical political leaders who were hitherto members of other opposition Parties embracing the progressive ideals of our great Party, as evangelised and exemplified by the Imo State governor.
The strategic and inspiring leadership of Governor Uzodimma can also be credited with the impressive understanding of the other governors of the Southeast who have yet to openly declare and defect to the APC but are working harmoniously with our great Party, under an arrangement that ensures that; “Progressives Work Together”.
The Imo State Executive Committee of the Party under the leadership of Chief Austin Onyedebelu therefore extends its heartfelt gratitude to stakeholders and leaders of the Party across the zone, for their unalloyed support Hope Uzodimma, in his unrelenting and visionary efforts in guiding our great Party to more successful outings.

“We encourage these stakeholders and delegates not to be distracted or adversely influenced as we continue to build the APC into a formidable platform that would reassert and relaunch the Southeast in the national limelight or Nigerian table of power.
“We wish all delegates to the Zonal Congress a smooth and safe trip to Enugu as we re-elect and elect the officials who shall pilot the affairs of our Party in the Southeast, in conformity with the vision of democracy, progress, unity and prosperity.
