Yuletide Youths football tournament kicks off in Cross River

As part of events for the yuletide in Cross River State, a youth football tournament has been organized by some group of people under the aegis of “Standard Ambassadors” in collaboration with the State Football Association.

According to the Chairman of the organizing Committee, Mr Effiom Effiwat in a chat with pressmen in Calabar yesterday, he stated that the tournament which kick start on the 13th of December, would be used to expose young talented footballers from the southern senatorial district of the state comprising of seven local government area, and also unite them for President Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and senator Asuquo Ekpeyong

He emphasized that the yuletide football tournament is put together by friends and associates of Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong and has nothing to do with the Senator, stressing that the ten days competition would be played strictly on a knockout basis, and that the rules of football will be applied fully during the competition 

Effiwat stressed further that adequate medicals have been put in place in the event of any eventuality and that there would be a trophy to be won and some other consolation prizes. He also disclosed that they have invited football scouts in the Semi and the finals of the competition where talented players would have the opportunity for exposure in bigger football clubs 

According to him, “we are bringing football scouts to come and watch the boys in the Semi and the Finals of the competition where some of these hidden talents would be picked for better exposure and better football career”, he stated.

“Competition is intended to expose our youths who are talented and to use this yuletide tournament to unite them”, he said.
