Ebonyi PDP Secretary Resigns, Mobilises Support for Nwifuru’s 2027 Re-election

The State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Hon. Ogbuefi Zaccheaus Ifeuwabundidi, has resigned from the party with immediate effect and declared support for the re-election of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the 2027 governorship election.
Ifeuwabundidi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 18, 2026, addressed to the PDP National Chairman through the party’s state and ward chairmen in Ebonyi State.
In the letter, the former party secretary said his decision followed wide consultations and careful personal reflection, bringing to an end his membership and service in the PDP’s Ebonyi State chapter.
He recalled serving the party in two capacities: first as an appointed State Secretary and later as the substantive State Secretary following his election at the state congress.
According to him, he discharged his responsibilities with loyalty to the party’s constitution, commitment to unity and dedication to the growth of the PDP in Ebonyi State.
Ifeuwabundidi expressed appreciation to members of the State Working Committee, State Executive Committee, party leaders, elders, stakeholders and members for their support and confidence throughout his tenure.
He described his service to the party as a privilege and thanked those who worked with him during his time in office.
However, announcing his next political move, Ifeuwabundidi said he had joined forces with a grassroots political group known as the Active Mobilizers to commence statewide mobilisation for Nwifuru’s re-election in 2027.
He said the group was committed to building grassroots support for the governor and his team ahead of the next governorship election.
The development marks a political shift for Ifeuwabundidi, who occupied a key administrative position in the Ebonyi PDP before announcing his departure from the opposition party.
His declaration of support for Nwifuru also signals his intention to redirect his political influence towards the governor’s re-election campaign.
In his resignation letter, the former PDP secretary requested that the party accept his notice and initiate the necessary administrative processes to formalise his departure.
Copies of the letter were sent to the PDP National Secretary and the South-East Zonal Chairman of the party.
