DUFUTHS governing council dimises  sideline, rift with Umahi

….. Warns critics to shun criticism

The governing council of David Umahi federal university of Health Sciences, DUFUTHS on Wednesday denied of being sidelined and having rift with the Minister of works, David Umahi.

The Pro- chancellor of DUFUTHS, Abdur-Raheen Shittu and other members of the governing council made this known while briefing newsmen in Uburu community, Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi State.

According to him: “We do not have any problem of instability. The governing council made up of distinguished Nigerians from all over the country. 

“We have fantastic synergy between the governing council and the management of the university.

“I was surprised two days ago when I got a call from a supposed Journalist from USA, giving me information that I have been sidelined purportedly by the current Minister of works, David Umahi. 

“And I told the journalist they are looking for information, apparently they are looking for a negative information.

Shittu, a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo state on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congres, APC, noted further that: “I told him that I have no complaint against anybody. That nobody has sidelined me and nobody could have sidelined me. I am an an experienced politician.

“In fact, I have been in politics for over 47 years. And I do not have any complain. We work as brothers and sisters here.

“Any information you get, that is negative, you know that it is a hatchet job by criminals who are frustrated which are not noble and who want to distablize the university.

“On behalf of the governing council, I want to assure you that we do not have any problem. We are happy, we are satisfied, everything is going on fine. 

“And it is our objective that we will continue to pursue the best interest of the university for the benefit of the entire country, because this is a federal university.

“Be rest assured that we do not have any complain, because there is nothing to complain again. If there are issues we will settle it. But there are no issues at all” he stated.

Responding, the vice chancellor, Jesse Uneke condemned in totality the negative report of sideline of the governing council of the varsity by critics.

“The person is just unnecessarily malicious but then we are notmoved by that, because when you are doing well, there will be people who will not be happy with your progress and then this is natural. 


“But we are happy, ask the students, ask their parentsand they will tell you that, this university is doing marvelously well.”If you look at the infrastructures here, you know that the council is supervising these structures very, very well.All the constructions going on in this university, the council oversees how they are being built and managed.

“You know that it’s clear evidence that the council is really working. The university is very stable.We don’t have any issues academically, administratively and you can also attest to the fact that the council is doing its work very, very well. 

“So thank you also very muchfor coming and watch out for more negative, you know, publications. They will keep on coming,but when they come, please be assured, since you have visited this university and you’ve seenthings for yourself” he stated.

Also, the minster of education represented by one, Paul Ogbe said: “The information that is peddled is unfounded.  

“We Aligning myself with the vice chancellor, and pro chancellor and chairman of council and my colleague here, we are fine” he stated.
