Bandits set ablaze Police station, UMCA church, abduct NUT Chairman’s family, kill one

Rampaging bandits operating with the Kainji national Park and environs have struck again as they burnt down a police station, a branch of UMCA church in Agwara town, the headquarters of Agwara before abducting a Family of five and killing another.
The Bandits who stormed the local government headquarters on Saturday operated till the early hours of Sunday when they were engaged by vigilantes at Kabe community of the council
Eye witness said the bandits abducted the Chairman Nigeria Union of teachers, Mallam Ahmed Burade and his household at their residence in the town.

According to the source, the wife of the local government NUT Chairman, a nursing mother was kidnapped along with her four Children, but her husband managed to escape when local hunters and vigilantes engaged the bandits in a gun duel.
After encountering the vigilantes, the bandits quickly set the local branch of the UMCA church ablaze before retreating to the neighbouring community of Sokonbate close to Kabe around 6am on Sunday.
At the community, the bandits ransacked houses to cart away food stuff and other valuables and reportedly killed an elderly woman.
The Niger State police command Spokesman, SP Waisu Abiodiun confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
He said police tactical teams are monitoring the situation to respond appropriately as events unfold.
It will be recalled that on the 21st of November, 2025 a large number of students and pupils of St Mary’s Catholic school Papiri were abducted and few days later in December last year, the date devil bandits attacked and killed 42 residents of Kasuwan Daji in Agwara Local government Area of Niger State.
